What you can expect - new build and deep retrofit

  • Newbuild survey - On new build projects we can usually agree sizes from the architects drawing package. We are happy to join meetings to discuss installation detailing and ensure that all details and sizes work for all parties. The benefit of this being the order can be placed before the house is built, meaning our windows can be fitted much sooner.
  • Deep retrofit survey On Deep Retrofit projects we can either work from the architects' drawings or carry out a site survey. Whichever works best for your project.
  • Survey report – Whenever we carry out a site survey, we will produce a comprehensive survey report which will form part of the contract. This will clearly outline all our findings from site. We will state all the tasks that we will complete as part of the installation service and list any tasks to be completed before our arrival.
  • Scope of works document – Whenever we do not survey, we will write up a scope of works document which clearly outlines all the tasks we will complete as part of the installation.
  • Constant contact – We plan regular catch ups between order sign off and installation date. We have decades of self-build experience and know that programmes can move, forwards and backwards. By keeping constant contact, we can ensure the perfect date for your install. Ensuring our other clients receive the same service. One project moving back, can mean another can move forward.
  • Pre install site visit or video call – We will always either carry out a pre install site visit or do a site video call with you. This is to ensure that the site is ready for our team. We check openings, floor levels, site access, ground conditions, anything that could cause a problem for the install. By doing this visit it allows any alterations to be made before we arrive, ensuring there are no delays or further costs.
  • Walk around and sign off – one of our installers will do a walk round with you towards the end of the install to ensure you are happy with the work. They can show you how to operate the windows and doors. They will also advise on the best methods of frame protection during the follow-on construction works.

What you can expect - replacement

  • Survey – on replacement jobs we will always carry out a comprehensive site survey. Taking measurements from inside and outside, checking for access, building regulation compliance and general site conditions. Our surveyor can also talk through the quote with you and discuss designs, colours, and hardware. With the aim of coming away from site with all the information to form the final contract.
  • Survey report - We will produce a comprehensive survey report which will form part of the contract. This will clearly outline all our findings from site. We will state all the tasks that we will complete as part of the installation service and list any tasks to be completed before our arrival.
  • Installation date – we will agree an installation date with you and stay connected before to ensure the date remains suitable.
  • Removal and disposal – We will remove the existing windows and dispose of them safely.
  • Walk around and sign off – one of our installers will do a walk round with you towards the end of the install to ensure you are happy with the work. They can show you how to operate the windows and doors.

21 Degrees are often my first choice - not just because they offer excellent products but because their customer support and aftercare is second to none.
