The Finnish leader in ventilation

Airfi air handling units are expertly engineered in Finland to perform in even the harshest conditions while ensuring optimal indoor air quality. Founded in 2018, Airfi have showcased themselves as a pioneering leader within the competitive ventilation industry. Driven by a commitment to high-quality components and systems, the company places a strong emphasis on sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Airfi is dedicated to creating durable, energy-efficient units with minimal embedded carbon. To provide transparency, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are available for the entire Airfi product range, offering clear insights into the environmental impact of each unit.

AFPS Frost Protection System

The Airfi range of units features the innovative Airfi Frost Pro System (AFPS), setting it apart from other MVHR units that lack built-in frost protection. This feature is crucial for ensuring consistent ventilation, especially in colder months. When outdoor temperatures dip below freezing, bringing in cold air can cause ice to form inside the unit, potentially damaging the heat exchanger and other components.

Traditional frost protection systems use a small pre-heater to warm incoming air, keeping it above freezing. In contrast, the AFPS takes a more advanced approach by defrosting the heat exchanger only when necessary. This allows Airfi units to maximise efficiency without relying on a fixed temperature threshold. Since the heat exchanger is made of aluminium, some freezing is permissible, and defrosting occurs by diverting a small amount of incoming air around the heat exchanger. The heat from the units extract air then defrosts the exchanger, maintaining efficiency.

Although this process slightly cools the supply air, a small heater on the supply duct compensates, ensuring the air returns to the desired temperature. This temperature can be set lower to allow the space heating system, which can be more efficient (like an Air Source Heat Pump with a COP of 4), rather than an energy-draining electrical heater to keep the house warm.

Designed for ease of install

Airfi units offer versatile installation options, allowing them to be mounted on a floor stand, hung on the wall, or suspended from the ceiling using well-designed mounting frames. This flexibility makes it easy to install the units in high or out-of-the-way spaces that might otherwise go unused, such as above cupboards or in tight corners. Their compact design is also tailored to fit standard cupboard dimensions, making them an ideal choice for laundry stacks or kitchen cabinets.

Each unit features a single condensate point, simplifying installation by eliminating any confusion about which side to connect the condensate drain.

For added safety and convenience, the low voltage control wiring is pre-wired into an external connector box, ensuring installers work away from high-voltage components.
